I was born and grew up in Nepal. I have MSc degree in Physics from Tribhuvan University (TU), Kathmandu, Nepal. In 2008, I decided to join Georgia State University to pursue a PhD in biophysics (brain science, commonly known as neuroscience). During my PhD, I became curious about mysteries of brain function and the mechanisms of decision-making, in particular. During this period, I learned noninvasive neuroimaging technologies (mainly fMRI and EEG) and used them to investigate the large-scale organization of the human brain, and functional architecture of social and perceptual decision-making process in healthy people. My current research includes age-related decline on cognitive functions (including memory, cognitive control, attention, reward, and discounting phenomenon). The ultimate goal is to elucidate cognitive and neural mechanisms and the functional organization of the brain towards developing treatments for brain injury, neurological disease, and psychiatric disorders.
